ACI – The Financial Markets Association (ACI – FMA) was founded in Paris in 1955 to bring together interbank traders in the different financial markets.
ACI Australia was established in 1979 as an affiliate to ACI - FMA, originally known as The Australian Forex Association, we changed the name in 1999 to reflect its close association with ACI - FMA.
The association has grown to be the largest international association in the wholesale financial markets, representing more than 5,000 members in 50 countries. It focuses on the encouragement of professionalism and ethics within the industry and the provision of a specialized suite of market related examinations.
ACI’s Mission
ACI’s mission is to be regarded within the business community, authorities, media and financial services industry as the leading association representing the interests of the international financial markets, and to actively promote the educational and professional interests of the markets and the industry.

As longstanding and active proponents of ethical conduct in financial markets, ACI FMA wholeheartedly welcomed and supported the Global FX Code. Through education, thought leadership and industry influence, ACI will continue to assist its members – and the wider industry – to embrace the Global FX Code. ACI - FMA contributed directly to the creation of the Global FX Code by participating in the Market Participants Group (MPG) that reported to the BIS FX Working Group. As a member of the MPG, ACI - FMA signed a statement of commitment to adhere to the Global FX Code in May 2017.
ACI also arranges international, regional and local meetings/conventions in order that its members can meet and exchange views face to face as local and global contacts are still essential to be able to work within the ever-growing Financial Markets.
